The AHA today urged members of the U.S. Senate “to protect our patients and find ways to maintain coverage for as many Americans as possible” by rejecting the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson proposal to repeal and replace parts of the Affordable Care Act. In a joint statement Saturday, the AHA and five other national organizations representing hospitals, physicians and health plans also urged the Senate to reject the Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson proposal. “While we sometimes disagree on important issues in health care, we are in total agreement that Americans deserve a stable health care market that provides access to high-quality care and affordable coverage for all,” the AHA, American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, America’s Health Insurance Plans, Federation of American Hospitals and BlueCross BlueShield Association said. “The Graham-Cassidy-Heller-Johnson bill does not move us closer to that goal. The Senate should reject it.”
