Decatur Health Systems - Specialty Clinic Program
Available to all community members, but primarily serves our senior citizen population.
What is it?
Our Specialty Clinic Program "imports" specialty medical care into our community, providing surgical services, cataract removal, urology, oncology, and cardiology care at our rural 24-bed critical access hospital. Professionals come in weekly to do nuclear medicine, MRIs and sonograms. Our community does not have enough population to support the full-time services of specialists, but we are happy to have them visit at regular intervals to provide specialty care to our community members.

Why do they do it?
This program was established to provide convenient access to the services of specialty doctors in our community, eliminating the need to drive excessive distances to obtain medical care. During their once monthly visits, specialists provide services on site, with consults and surgeries. Our need for this service has expanded; currently our health facility is planning an addition to our building, which will provide additional consult rooms, waiting area, and doctors' offices. Groundbreaking is planned for this spring.
