Chair File: Join Us at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting
The 2022 AHA Annual Membership Meeting is just three weeks away, and I’m looking forward to seeing many of you April 24-26 in Washington, D.C.
It’s been three years since the Annual Meeting convened in person. So this year’s gathering will be a welcome opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new acquaintances … and discuss forward-thinking topics in health care with peers in the field and thought leaders in government, media and politics.
This year’s three-day program is filled with leadership sessions, federal forums and special events, and features several sessions geared to hospital and health system trustees. Sessions and keynotes will focus on equity, workforce, governance and much more.
The AHA team has lined up an excellent slate of speakers. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Administrator Chiquita Brooks-LaSure will join us as well as Anthony Fauci, M.D., chief medical adviser to President Biden, and Vivek Murthy, M.D., U.S. surgeon general. You’ll also hear from Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va. and Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, discussing the dynamics on Capitol Hill and the prospects for health care legislation this year.
Other speakers outside of the health care sphere and Capitol Hill include Margaret Brennan of CBS News’ Face the Nation and Eugene Robinson of the Washington Post. Also featured this year will be Robert Gates, former U.S. secretary of defense and CIA director; Boomer Esiason, former NFL quarterback and founder of the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which funds research on cystic fibrosis; and Michael Beschloss, presidential historian and bestselling author.
I encourage you to check out the complete schedule and programming details and register for AHA’s Annual Membership Meeting if you haven’t already.
Convening in person later this month offers an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas and reimagine health care so all people in our communities can lead healthy lives. Looking forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C.
