The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services yesterday extended to Aug. 28 the comment deadline for the risk adjustment data validation provisions in its proposed rule making changes to the Medicare Advantage and prescription drug benefit programs for contract year 2020. CMS has proposed changes to the risk adjustment data validation audit methodology, used to verify the accuracy of payments and identify improper payments for recovery. The deadline for comments on this provision had previously been extended to April 30. CMS now expects to release additional data underlying the provision by June 14.
