Putting Quality and Patients First
During 2012, despite economic challenges, hospitals and health care systems throughout the United States delivered safe, effective, equitable and high-quality care and put patients first. For example, Billings Clinic in Billings, MT, partnered with another local hospital and the public health department to conduct a community health needs assessment to improve overall community health. Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in Bronx, NY, provides about 400 outreach programs and promotes preventive health services for its diverse patient population. At UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, NC, physicians and nurses as well as patients and families participate on quality improvement teams. Neosho Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute, KS, has reduced rates of central line-associated bloodstream infections to zero. And North Star Behavorial Health in Anchorage, AK, improved outcomes for children and adolescents dealing with mental health issues.
