A Tool for Transforming Care
Trustees, senior leaders and quality chairs play a pivotal role as their hospitals and health care systems pursue opportunities to transform care and better serve their patients and communities. The AHA offers many resources for the ongoing work to improve quality and safety.
“Eliminating Harm, Improving Patient Care: A Trustee Guide” is a new how-to resource, designed for boards of trustees but also immensely useful for other senior leaders and for quality chairs. This resource includes 10 modules with 8-minute videos, pre-viewing questions and key takeaways. The videos feature AHA senior executives, health care governance and leadership experts, and CEOS and board members from several U.S. hospitals and health care systems. Information is shared about the context of quality, alignment to financial performance, and the importance of measuring patient harm, plus engaging clinicians, patients and families and tying in to leadership diversity and health care equity.
This guide was produced by the AHA, HRET, Center for Healthcare Governance, and Trustee magazine, as part of the Partnership for Patients' Hospital Engagement Network initiative.
