Intermountain Healthcare Workers Support New York Hospitals and Show Together We’re Stronger During Pandemic
Health care workers across the country are lending helping hands on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and easing the burden on an overwhelmed health care system. Two teams from Intermountain Healthcare, based in Salt Lake City, Utah, are doing their part by partnering with two health systems in New York, the nation’s largest COVID-19 hot spot. Each team of paid volunteers includes around 50 physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, respiratory therapists and other caregivers.
The first Intermountain COVID-19 response team left Utah on April 14 to work at two Northwell Health hospitals, and the second team left April 16 to work at three New York-Presbyterian hospitals. Both teams are working 14 days and returning to Utah with knowledge and experience gained from their New York counterparts. The New York health systems plan to return the favor and send help if Intermountain sees a COVID-19 surge.
Team members have been sharing their front-line experiences in moving blog posts on the "Intermountain Healthcare Stands with New York" online daily digest.
