America’s hospitals and health systems appreciate the recognition by Congress of our crucial role in battling this virus and are pleased that much-needed funding was included in the CARES Act. However, as we have said, the CARES Act was an important first step, and we are waiting for the Administration to begin to allocate this much-needed funding to our members who are on the front lines of caring for those impacted by the virus.
The AHA thanks Leader Schumer and Speaker Pelosi for their proposal for additional emergency funding for hospitals and health systems to ensure they continue to have what they need to protect their patients, communities and caregivers. We will continue to support additional efforts by the Congress to make sure providers on the front lines – hospitals, physicians and nurses – remain prioritized for federal assistance as this pandemic spreads.
