Advocacy Issue: SAVE Act

Hospitals, health systems and their staff support enactment of a federal law that would protect health care workers from violence and intimidation, just as current federal law protects airline and airport workers. Congress should enact the bipartisan Save Healthcare Workers Act (SAVE) (H.R. 3178/S. 1600), which provides protections similar to those for flight crews, flight attendants and airport workers.

Despite the diligent efforts of hospitals and health systems to prevent violence, health care workers remain five times more likely than any other type of worker to be physically attacked on the job, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
