Utah Valley Regional Medical Center - Volunteer Care Clinic
The Voluntary Care Clinic, staffed entirely by volunteer providers, offers free health care and pharmacy services, as well as referral to free or low-cost primary and specialty care. The Volunteer Care Clinic in Provo is a joint project of Intermountain Healthcare, primarily through Utah Valley Regional Medical Center; the Latter Day Saints Church; Brigham Young University; United Way; and the Utah County Health Department.

Who is it for?
Uninsured Utah County residents whose income level is less than or equal to 130 percent of the poverty line.
Why do they do it?
Retired physicians in the Provo area had approached the hospital and the state legislature about wanting to donate their time and services to the poor and uninsured in their community, but they were stopped by tight liability insurance requirements. Some had been going out of the country to volunteer. When the legislature eased these restrictions, it opened the door for the clinic to be created.
Impact
The clinic is currently open two nights a week and serves an average of 40 low-income, uninsured patients each night.
