MultiCare Health System - Center for Healthy Living Program

MultiCare Center for Healthy Living was created in 1999 to promote community health and wellness. The Center helps individuals, families and employees of businesses in the county learn how to live healthier lives and decrease their risk of disease by offering a number of classes and programs on topics ranging from nutrition and weight management to life balance and stress reduction.

MultiCare Center for Healthy Living was created in 1999 to promote community health and wellness. The Center helps individuals, families and employees of businesses in the county learn how to live healthier lives and decrease their risk of disease by offering a number of classes and programs on topics ranging from nutrition and weight management to life balance and stress reduction.

Who is it for?

All residents of Pierce County.

Why do they do it?

Research indicates that a healthy lifestyle may prevent up to 70 percent of common life-threatening diseases, including heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes.

Impact

Each year, the Center reaches more than 100,000 community members through special events, including screenings, community forums, classes, Healthy@Work, the EverActive membership program for people 55+ and Personal Wellness Profiles. The Healthy@Work Program provides corporate wellness programs to 30 Pierce County employers and more than 6,000 employees. Since 1999, approximately 5,000 comprehensive Personal Wellness Profiles have been conducted. Pierce County Gets Fit programs have reached more than 39,000 participants since their inception.
