Sinai Community Institute of Sinai Health System - Workforce Development
What is it?
Sinai Community Institute, a member organization of Sinai Health System, manages a training and employment program that has provided workforce development services for the past 15 years to some of Chicago’s hardest-to-serve job seekers. Sinai Community Institute realized in the beginning that they needed to forge relationships with businesses around the city in order to provide those businesses with viable employees and to provide employment opportunities to their job-seeking customers. Sinai Community Institute’s customers are backed by its team of case managers and job developers, who are able to address common workplace issues on the front end so that employers never have to deal with those issues on the back end. This approach has resulted in very high retention rates for Sinai Community Institute’s business customers.
Who is it for?
Job seekers.
Why do they do it?
Sinai Community Institute sees workforce development as an economic strategy for addressing public health.
Impact
Through its case management, assessments, supportive services, job readiness classes, and job placement assistance, Sinai Community Institute has been successful in placing more than 900 clients in employment.
