AHA advertorial in New York Times urges support for hospital workforce solutions
The hospital workforce shortage crisis demands immediate attention from government and workable solutions, such as lifting the cap on Medicare-funded physician residencies, boosting support for nursing schools and faculty, providing scholarships and loan forgiveness, expediting visas for highly trained foreign health care workers and expanding scope of practice laws, AHA President and CEO Rick Pollack writes in an advertorial published today in the New York Times.
“The people who work in hospitals and health systems are truly the heart of health care,” he notes. “We must support them and stay focused on keeping our patients and communities safe and healthy.”
