AHA Launches Webpage, Digital Resources Related to COVID-19 Vaccine

AHA Special Bulletin
September 21, 2020

Resources will be added, updated often as new developments occur

When the novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) emerged late last year, individuals and organizations around the world quickly marshaled to develop a vaccine for COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus. Governments, nonprofits and the private sector funded efforts, and regulators are working with great speed in partnerships with scientists and innovators.

To help keep the field informed of important updates related to vaccine development, distribution, utilization protocols, supply chain and many other issues, the AHA has launched a new webpage that houses AHA-developed tools, as well as resources from the federal government and other stakeholders.

Among AHA’s initial resource offerings are:

  • A COVID-19 Vaccine Primer that provides an overview of the U.S. vaccine development and approval process, as well as information on Operation Warp Speed – a public-private partnership whose goal is to produce and deliver 300 million doses of safe and effective vaccines with the initial doses available by January 2021, as part of a broader strategy to accelerate the development, manufacturing and distribution of COVID-19 countermeasures.
  • A COVID-19 Vaccine Candidate Scorecard that highlights the most promising COVID-19 vaccine candidates that have received, and could potentially receive, funding from the U.S. government. This resource will be updated regularly.
  • A Special Bulletin highlighting information released by the administration last week on its COVID-19 vaccine distribution strategy.

Additional tools and resources will be added to the webpage and shared with members during the upcoming weeks and months.
