Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) is a comprehensive health care system in rural Louisiana offering a broad continuum of care, including a 96-bed flagship hospital with emergency care, medical and surgical services, and intensive care with 24-hour critical care. It also offers obstetrics, inpatient psychiatric care, dialysis services, diagnostics, respiratory care and rehabilitation services. NRMC operates 21 clinics and facilities offering a range of services, including primary care and behavioral health. It serves a rural population of about 18,000 people within the immediate city limits, reaching as many as 250,000 people in the surrounding areas.

Leadership and Strategy Culture Program

The NRMC leadership team prioritizes strategy and intentionality to achieve their quality and safety goals, which include being seen as a highly reliable organization across their community.

The senior leadership team meets monthly with a development coach to focus on strategy and assess progress on their organizational and individual goals. They structure their strategy program around five pillars: people, service, quality, finance and growth.

Program Results

In 2013, NRMC finished the fiscal year with about 55,000 patient touch points. Since then, the hospital finished its last fiscal year with more than 225,000 patient touch points, demonstrating expansive growth with both high performance and outcomes.

Leadership also focuses on creating trust and a culture of reliability in the community by regularly making daily rounds to meet with patients and clinical staff, hosting monthly CEO roundtables and meeting people where they are in local churches and cultural events.
