NCH Healthcare System - Reducing ADEs with Medicare Patients
NCH Healthcare System, a 325-bed facility in Naples, Florida, started its journey to reduce harm across the board by focusing on culture change from the bottom up. Multidisciplinary teams of trustees, physicians, nurses, dietary staff, environmental staff and other front-line workers mapped out processes to zero in on efficiencies and reliability, and to discuss adverse events without placing blame. NCH significantly reduced adverse drug events, particularly with Medicare patients, and prevented 963 total harms. NCH Healthcare System was part of the AHA/HRET Hospital Engagement Network.
