Virtual Health Village
Virtual Health Village is a health information exchange for sharing secure, up-to-date student health information among collaborating care partners of the Children's Care Alliance, Allenton, Penn. School nurses use iPads to access and share health information and engage students in learning about their health condition. The Virtual Health Village is effectively addressing the children's urgent health conditions, like asthma and obesity and issues related to high mobility rates of their families. This collaborative model can be replicated and scaled for similar strategic partnerships.
Children's Care Alliance partners include Lehigh Valley Health Network, which led the alliance's formation, Allentown and Bethlehem school districts, Lehigh Valley Business Coalition on Healthcare, Sacred Heart HealthCare System, Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network, and St. Luke's University Health Network.
