Resources for Quality Improvement
In July 2013, the AHA released another collection of action-oriented resources that can help hospitals and health care systems design and implement strategies to deliver care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and patient-centered. Hospitals in Pursuit of Excellence: A Compendium of Action Guides 2013 also will assist health care leaders operating in the present volume-based environment shift to a performance-based system that is focused on delivering value. This year's compendium includes information and case examples on moving from the volume-based first curve to the value-based second curve, preparing for value-based contracts, exploring advanced illness management strategies, implementing physician-integration initiatives, and developing effective population health partnerships with small and rural hospitals. Resources in the compendium also focus on engaging health care users to improve outcomes and reduce health care costs, becoming a culturally competent organization and using checklists to improve patient safety.
HPOE.org houses many resources from AHA and other health groups. Read the compendium, other guides and case studies.
