“I think one’s feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results” – Florence Nightingale

In 1967, a collection of nurse administrators from the AHA Council of Nursing organized themselves into an AHA personal membership group to create a professional home for nurse leaders. Fifty years later, AONE is the preeminent organization for nurse leaders. Echoing the founders’ aims to develop the profession of nursing leadership, the organization today represents some 9,700 members from across the health care spectrum.

Thousands of nurse leaders will be in Baltimore next week to attend AONE 2017 and celebrate 50 years of inspiring leaders. They will take part in the collaborative environment and connect with colleagues from across the country, learn the latest innovations and rejuvenate their passion as nurse leaders.

The real heroes of health care are the women and men closest to the people who turn to them with their hopes and fears – the people on the front lines of care. The nurse leaders attending AONE 2017 will celebrate not just a half a century of inspiring leadership, but also the courage and dedication that they bring every day to caring for patients.
