AHA-supported bill would expand access to telehealth services
The AHA today voiced support for the Telehealth Modernization Act (S.368), legislation that would remove geographic and originating site restrictions to allow patients to receive telehealth in their homes and other locations.
In particular, the bill would make permanent a Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act provision that lets Rural Health Clinics and Federally Qualified Health Centers provide telehealth services.
“We appreciate that the legislation would improve access to telehealth services by expanding the types of providers that can offer telehealth services, as well as the types of services covered by Medicare,” AHA said in a letter of support for the bill, introduced last week by Sens. Tim Scott, R-S.C., and Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii.
