Achieving Success in Bundled Payment Programs: Measuring Success

After navigating the data, engaging new partners, and employing action at a systems level, next comes the ultimate questions: Are the changes successful and how does one measure success? The AHA Center for Health Innovation hosted the Bundled Payments: Learning in Action Series to help AHA members overcome implementation challenges.

Nirav Shah, M.D., Stanford University’s Clinical Excellence Research Center, moderated a discussion on how to set clear, internal key performance indicators and implement integrated information systems to support care coordination, track outcomes and proactively trigger intervention.

In collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE), the AHA started this webinar series in 2018 defining what bundled payments and episodic care programs are. The series continued in 2019 focusing on how hospitals and health systems are implementing these programs.
