Achieving Success in Bundled Payment Programs: Using Data to Drive Intentional Action

Navigating how to use data to drive strategies for bundled care redesign can be overwhelming. The AHA Center for Health Innovation hosted the Bundled Payments: Learning in Action Series.

AHA Chief Data Strategy Officer Gloria Kupferman discussed how to use your existing data to derive actionable information and better understand your population of patients in bundles, deriving the right tactics to redesign their care. She was joined by Darcie Hurteau, senior director of informatics, DataGen; Kate Poglitsch, chief of analytics, DataGen; and Jessica Walradt, program manager of value-based care, Northwestern Medicine.

In collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE), the AHA started this webinar series in 2018 defining what bundled payments and episodic care programs are. The series continued in 2019 by focusing on how hospitals and health systems are implementing these types of programs.

Key takeaways and examples featured in the webinar were summarized in an accompanying issue brief.
