How You’re Transforming: Jefferson Health
Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health and GE Healthcare are partnering in a five-year, risk-sharing program designed to achieve $1 billion in savings and improved patient care across the 14-hospital system. Approximately 100 GE Healthcare staff are engaging with personnel from across the health system in the initiative to get a deep understanding of operations and processes, according to a Members in Action report from the AHA’s Value Initiative. Among the issues being explored are ways to improve care integration, reduce wait times and the number of repetitive forms and requests patients must complete, and cut duplicative tests. The relationship also enables Jefferson Health to work with some of GE Healthcare’s state-of-the-art equipment when current equipment needs to be replaced, even though using GE products is not required. Eventually, this will lead to reduced variation in equipment among sites.
