Are You Up to the Challenge?
How can AHA-member organizations spread innovative technology to address social determinants of health? Sharing your story on early-stage innovation efforts could help bring your idea to life and benefit the field.
The 2019 AHA Innovation Challenge is a juried award program to source and spread innovative technological approaches that address social determinants of health. The World Health Organization defines social determinants of health as the circumstances in which people are born, grow up, live, work and age and the systems put into place to deal with illness.
To enter, submit an idea or model of less than 5,000 words through the online submission form about an early-stage program designed to address one or more social determinants of health that include: housing, food, education, transportation, violence, social support, employment and health behaviors. The top three entries as selected by the judges will receive the following prizes to help bring their ideas to life: first prize, $100,000; second prize, $25,000, third prize, $15,000.
Challenge submissions open Feb. 5 and close May 24. The award winners will be announced at the AHA Leadership Summit, July 25-27 in San Diego.
