Children’s Hospitals, Startups to Create Digital Solutions to Transform Care
Innovative digital health solutions have come fast and furious for treating adult patients, but advances haven’t been nearly as dramatic in the pediatrics field due to lack of funding and support. That may change soon, however.
The recently created KidsX Accelerator program will bring together 32 pediatric hospitals from across the globe to partner with digital health startup companies to meet the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families. Beginning in early 2021, the virtual accelerator program will take place over 13 weeks.
“KidsX is poised to be the international leader in pediatric digital health innovation by enabling collaboration between leading children’s hospitals to source, screen, prioritize, test and deploy purpose-built digital health solutions at scale,” says Omkar Kulkarni, MPH, founder of KidsX and chief innovation officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The program is designed to partner participating pediatric hospitals with 10 promising early-stage digital health companies with clinician and administrative leaders to determine if a market exists for the products under consideration. The hospitals are committed to providing mentorship as entrepreneurs build digital products to meet the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families, piloting the products to validate clinical efficacy and enabling the scaling of validated solutions to hospitals across the country. Digital health startups are encouraged to sign up to take part in the KidsX Accelerator.
