Competencies: Workforce Competency Development

Hospitals and health care systems are faced with unprecedented challenges and opportunities as they transition to new models focused on value-based reimbursement, patient safety and quality, innovative care delivery, population health management, integrated health IT and analytics. Success in this new world will require development and execution of new business and service approaches, new partnerships and alliances and new capabilities. As a result, the skills and competencies that will be required for the future health care environment are evolving; traditional roles are changing and new roles are emerging.

The AHA provides a range of tools, resources and educational opportunities to strengthen the development of the many professions that work in the hospital to ensure the highest quality of care.
