As rural health care faces historic challenges, experts will gather in Orlando, Florida, February 11–14 to explore innovative approaches to transforming care, delivery and business practices. The 2024 AHA Rural Health Care Leadership Conference will feature top rural providers who will share actionable strategies and resources to improve access to care, leverage unique workforce approaches, implement digital technologies and prioritize health equity.

Program Highlights Include:

  • 7 Minutes to Innovation: Building a More Flexible and Sustainable Workforce

    Each of five rural health care leaders will have seven minutes to share their innovative strategies and experiences in addressing workforce challenges, and will provide succinct valuable insights.

  • Policy and Research Update: Financial Models for Rural Hospitals

    Learn to assess emerging opportunities for rural hospitals, including Rural Emergency Hospital (REH) status, value-based payment and strategies to optimize finances and operations. Christina Campos, a rural hospital administrator, will discuss her hospital’s decision points and transition process in becoming one of the country’s first REHs. George Pink and Keith Mueller, national leaders in rural health services research, will follow with their perspectives on the financial and operational issues facing rural hospitals, including updated research on financial status, closures and conversions, and value-based payment.

  • Innovative Care Delivery Models in Maternity Care Deserts

    The Indian Health Service (IHS) has adapted innovative delivery care models to increase access to care and decrease gaps in health equity. Learn from IHS best practices and explore future directions of innovative care delivery models for improving maternal and child health outcomes in rural and underserved communities.
