CMS Announces First HealthTech Ecosystem Tools

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has introduced the first wave of interoperable digital solutions to improve patient experiences and enhance care delivery as part of the agency’s HealthTech Ecosystem initiative.
CMS Rolls Out New Digital Tools to Enhance Patient Experience
At a demonstration event, CMS highlighted various patient-facing applications from more than 50 companies. Examples include but not limited to:
- Personalized apps providing guidance on wellness, nutrition and chronic disease management
- Tools for digital data access and check-in, allowing patients to securely share information via smartphone scan and supporting the CMS “kill the clipboard” objective
The agency announced its plans to develop a Medicare App Library in February. The resource intends to provide Medicare beneficiaries access to patient-facing digital health tools integrated with CMS Aligned Networks. Applications in the library are categorized based on goals like:
- Eliminating manual check-in paperwork through FHIR-based data exchange at the point of care
- Providing personalized guidance via conversational AI
- Assisting with diabetes and obesity prevention and management
Building a More Connected, Value‑Driven Health Care System
CMS launched the Health Technology Ecosystem initiative in July 2025. The project aims to reduce administrative burden, facilitate innovation and create a more connected and value-driven health care system.
The CMS website includes a list of Health Technology Ecosystem pledge companies that met the March 31 minimum viable product deadline.
