Center Team Training Partnership Opportunities

Join us for the TeamSTEPPS Essentials Course, a three-part virtual training designed to strengthen teamwork and communication in health care settings. Grounded in the updated TeamSTEPPS 3.0 framework, this interactive Zoom-based series offers practical tools and strategies for professionals and students across clinical and nonclinical disciplines. Whether you're new to TeamSTEPPS or looking to refresh your skills, you'll explore key principles—communication, leading teams, mutual support and situation monitoring—through real-world scenarios, hands-on practice and peer discussions. This flexible, engaging course empowers participants to apply proven techniques that enhance team performance, patient safety and workplace satisfaction.

Course Offerings

Over the course of 3 weeks, participants will be introduced or refreshed on the key principles and tools of TeamSTEPPS 3.0 with focus on ender-user needs and application. Each weekly session is highly interactive, and it is encouraged that participants attend live but recordings will be made available following the session.

Course Details

  • The registration fee is $500 per person. This fee includes course materials, continuing education credits, and a TeamSTEPPS Essentials certificate. Everyone is welcome to attend, however teams are strongly encouraged.

    For teams of 3 to 9 attendees, we offer a team discount of $50 off each person's registration, dropping the price to $450 per person; for teams of 10 or more, we offer a team discount of $100 off each person's registration, dropping the price to $400 per person. To get the team discount, please complete online registration for all team members in a single session. The team discount(s) will be automatically applied as team members are added. If you would like to register team members individually, or add team members to an existing group, please email TeamTraining@aha.org to receive instructions.

  • The course is best suited for frontline staff and new team members in organizations with an existing TeamSTEPPS program along with clinical and nonclinical professionals and students new to TeamSTEPPS looking for a basic, time-efficient introduction.

    • Who attends TeamSTEPPS Essentials courses? Registered nurses, advanced practice registered nurses, physicians, physician assistants, technicians, pharmacists, medical or dental residents/interns, pre-professional students and non-clinical professionals including those in academia, quality, administrative and patient safety
    • Where do attendees come from? Hospitals and health systems (including medical offices and clinics), pre-professional academic institutions, ambulatory care facilities, nursing homes, skilled nursing facilities, acute long-term care hospitals, governmental agencies, military treatment facilities, associations and non-profits
    • Interprofessional faculty. Learn from your clinical and nonclinical colleagues who have been using and teaching TeamSTEPPS for years.
    • Professional development. Build leadership skills needed to improve quality outcomes, workforce resilience and patient safety.
    • Practical strategies and tools. Learn the basics of TeamSTEPPS 3.0 tools and principles that you can immediately use in your daily work.
    • CE credit and TeamSTEPPS certificate. Receive 4 hours (or equivalent) of continuing education credit and a TeamSTEPPS Essentials certificate of completion.
  • Participants will earn 4 credits by attending the course and completing all CE requirements. CE credit is provided by Duke University Health System Clinical Education & Professional Development. They are accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

  • All live sessions will be hosted on Zoom. In order to effectively participate in the course, attendees will need to join the AHA Team Training Learning Center, our hub for virtual courses and resources. The Learning Center is where participants will have access to all course materials and be able to connect with both course faculty and fellow learners. More details on how to use our Learning Center will be provided after registration.
