Verily Integrates Licensed Clinical Team into Consumer Health App

Verily, the 10-year-old Alphabet subsidiary, recently launched a consumer-facing app that will be marketed as a free way for anyone to obtain certain care recommendations from Verily’s partner clinicians based on users’ existing medical records.
The Verily Me app, which now is in beta testing, is part of the company’s broader effort to apply precision health and artificial intelligence (AI) to care delivery, according to an Oct. 17 news release. The program is available on Apple and Google Play app stores.
The app allows users to access recommendations from licensed clinicians who review medical records from various health systems. Users also can view their records to prepare for provider visits and use a built-in AI companion, Violet, to answer questions about their health data.
Other features include photo-based meal tracking that provides real-time nutrition feedback and an option to participate in Verily’s Lifelong Health Study, a real-world research registry. Verily reportedly plans to market the data registry to pharma companies and other research customers.
“Our goal with Verily Me is to provide a truly integrated and intuitive experience that supports people in their health journey,” Myoung Cha, chief product officer at Verily, said in a statement. “We aim to streamline care by providing personalized health recommendations from licensed clinicians, and to enable a more data-driven health journey so that patients and clinicians are able to share and receive health information.”
The Verily Me app also will be used by members of Verily Lightpath, a personalized care program subsidized by employers, payers and pharmacy benefit managers for the benefit of their employees or members, with multiple tiers of clinical support based on member need.
Members of the Lightpath program in Verily Me receive escalated support (when clinically indicated) to an expanded group of licensed providers, including physicians, pharmacists and registered dietitians. Lightpath is focused on cardiometabolic care management programs that support people with type 1 and type 2 diabetes, prediabetes, obesity and more.
