Mayo Clinic Unveils Global Data and Insights Platform to Support Health Systems Worldwide

Mayo Clinic has launched a new data and analytics offering designed to give health systems around the world access to its clinical expertise, large-scale datasets and advanced AI capabilities. Mayo Clinic Platform_Insights extends the organization’s long-running digital and data science strategy by making its tools and operational knowledge available to external providers.

Platform_Insights aggregates 26 petabytes of clinical data, including billions of lab results, images, care episodes and longitudinal patient records. The platform packages this information into models, benchmarks and evidence-based insights that other health systems can use to support clinical decision-making, strengthen operational performance and accelerate digital transformation.

The offering is intended to help hospitals that lack the scale, data volume or in-house analytics teams required to build similar capabilities on their own. Through Platform_Insights, organizations can access vetted datasets, risk-stratification tools, workflow models and other resources to support quality improvement, population health initiatives and performance monitoring.

This marks a continued shift among major academic medical centers toward supplying digital services, not just clinical care. In recent years, several large systems have expanded into licensing algorithms, sharing de-identified data resources or building commercial platforms in partnership with technology companies. Mayo Clinic’s move signals ongoing momentum toward “platformization” in health care, as large systems leverage their research infrastructure to support peer organizations.
