Willis-Knighton Health System - Growing Up for Boys/Growing Up for Girls

Area children ages 9 to 12, each accompanied by a parent or guardian of the same gender

What is it?

Willis-Knighton Health System (WKHS) offers two popular programs for children. “Growing Up for Boys” and “Growing Up for Girls” are free one-hour classes designed to provide information to prepare children for the physical and emotional changes that come with adolescence. WKHS physicians present easy-to-understand information about what to expect during puberty, addressing nutrition, proper hygiene and self-esteem. The goal is not just to inform the youngsters about anatomy but to help them feel comfortable with these changes. Classes are held approximately once a quarter at alternate campuses.
